It was really a disaster day for Hertfordshire players in the Regional play offs of the World Masters at Slough today 29th August 2010 with all the players losing there first games apart from Vicky Clark in the Girls Singles who was the only player to win a game.
In the Ladies Singles Debbie Essam won the first leg then was 3 - 1 down Debbie fought back to level at 3 - 3 before losing the deciding leg after having five darts at the double to Sue Bird from Kent.
Gemma Sherdel held her own in the the first three legs but lost out to Kerri Simmons from London 4 - 0, it was the same for Daph Gregory she had her chances but lost 4 - 0 to Sue Talbot from Suffolk.
Kathy Ovens won the first two legs then the doubles just seemed to close up losing 4 - 2 to Nicky Doidge from Suffolk.
The Men's was no better Peter Kosmalski was level at 1 set all before losing the deciding leg in the third set to lose 2 - 1 to Lee Rose from Buckinghamshire.
John Blair lost 2 - 0 in sets to Vern Shepherd from Middlesex, followed by Daniel Ovens who lost 2 - 0 to Jamie Robison from Essex, Mark Elliot completed the trio losing by the same score to Rod Hawkins of Sussex.
The Boys did not have much luck either John Goodenough and Jarrad Cole both lost 3 - 2 But Callum Sweetman and Rex Cole both lost 3 - 0.
In the Girls Vicky Clark won her first game but lost out in the next but Samantha Jeffreys lost her first game in the competition.
It does become disappointing when you play well but the final doubles seems to elude them.

World Professional Play offs
It was a very disappointing turn out on both night of these prestigous members only events but congratulations go to.
Kathy Ovens in the Ladies Play offs Kathy beat Rita Brownless 3 - 2 in the Final.
And Peter Kosmalski in the Men's Play offs Peter beat Jon Creed 3 - 0 in the Final.

Also on the 15th August 2010 the British Masters Singles was played at Daventry.
In the Ladies Singles jane phillips won her first round game 3 - 2 against Michelle Jackson of Cumbria followed by a 3 - 0 win over Ann Chilton from Lincolnshire, in the Quarter Finals Jane lost 3 - 2 to Sandra Greatbatch after having a chance to win 3 - 1.
John Mcguirk in the Men's Singles had a bye in the first round before defeating Adam Smith-Neale Warwickshire 3 - 1 he then beat Paul Oakley from Oxfordshire also 3 - 1 and in the Quarter Finals John lost 3 - 0 to Paul Newstead of Cambridgeshire.

After a very good effort Hoddesdon Ladies failed to retain the BDO Champions Cup they won last year losing 4 - 1 to Essex Ladies in the Quarter Finals of the National Finals held at Daventry Northants today 15th August 2010.
There only winner being Amanda Essam who played exceptionally well to win 3 - 1, Debbie Essam & Gemma Sherdel both lost 3 - 1 with Gema Law and Diane Bolland losing 3 - 0, I do understand it was the old Hertfordshire problems of missed doubles that enabled them to miss out, also having to forsake there Lucky Pink shirts for County shirts took away some of the shine on there efforts but well done once again for getting to the National Finals for the second year in succession.

Congratulations go once again to Hoddesdon Ladies for there splendid effort in winning the Regional Play offs in Slough and qualify for the National Finals at Daventry on Sunday 15th August 2010.
Winning there first game against Oxfordshire 4 - 1 with wins by Jodie Alligan and Gema Law 3 - 2 after being 2 - 0 behind, Amanda Essam
3 - 1 and Lisa Wetton 3 - 2, Gemma Sherdel was the unlucky player to lose out.
Against London Jodie Alligan and Gema Law both won 3 - 0 but London drew level with Lisa Wetton and Gemma Sherdel both losing 3- 0 it was left to Amanda Essam with the scores level at 2 - 2 kept her head to hit the winning double and give Hoddesdon Ladies a deserved win.
